Physics: Units and Concepts |
You won't believe how basic this is, yet...
And of course, I'm talking in very classical terms here, no relativity or quantum mechanics. Just pure Euclidean and Newtonian flat stuff. Good enough for everything in ordinary life.
For units I'm using the original definitions as given in the metric system convention of 1875, I know that today the definitions are made in terms of much more stable and reproducible phenomena. That is however irrelevant for day-to-day life. It is also nice to know how the units were originally chosen. There is an overview in a table.
The basic concepts of everyday phenomena deal with space, time, matter and electricity. Space is about length, area and volume. Time is just about time. Matter has mass and gravity. Electricity has electric charge and electric forces.
See details:
Space -- Mass -- Time -- Speed -- Acceleration -- Force -- Work or Energy -- Power -- Electricity
